Our Services
Educational therapy
is designed to help children and adults with a learning disability learn
how to process information more efficiently, offering them the opportunity
to make positive changes in school. Educational therapy is a program designed
to improve reasoning skills, organizational and attentional skills, academic
skills in math, reading, spelling, and writing, and perseverance through
difficult tasks.
Educational therapy is a one-on-one program that meets twice a week for
80 minutes each session. Each student will receive a specifically designed
program to meet their individual needs. The program is designed to continue
to meet the needs of the learner as the student develops and changes.
Reading resource
is designed to assist children and adults who struggle with reading difficulties.
Reading resource is a one-on-one program utilizing several techniques
specifically designed to meet the reading difficulties of each child.
Our reading resource specialists are acquainted with a variety of reading
programs and reading techniques.
Each child who receives reading resource assistance will benefit from
an individualized program designed specifically for the learner’s
needs. These sessions meet twice a week for 60 minutes each.
Tutoring/SOL and SAT Preparation
Tutoring is
offered for those who require more attention in one or more academic areas.
Tutoring is done in a one-on-one session and the frequency is determined
based on the child’s needs. SOL and SAT preparation are offered
to help students gain more one-on-one instruction directly related to
the standardized tests. Instruction varies from test-taking skills to
direct instruction in the subject matter. Frequency and time are determined
based on the child’s needs.
Special education advocacy
is assistance for parents of children in special education. Special education
meetings can be stressful and discouraging to parents of children with
special learning needs because of their strong desire to find the most
appropriate program solution for their child. In an effort to work as
a team toward your child’s needs, an advocate can help to create
a plan for the most appropriate education for your child. Assistance is
provided in paper work, letter writing, IEP writing, and continuous monitoring
of special education instruction.
The special education advocate meets with the parents and the special
education team to develop a plan that is appropriate for the individual
learner. The advocate continues to maintain a working relationship with
the family and the school in an effort to provide continuous monitoring
of the child’s educational needs.
